We recently had the honor of hosting Anna Ekeledo, the CEO of Afrilabs, for a remarkable day exploring the Mauritian startup ecosystem. Her visit was filled with impactful meetings with key stakeholders and culminated in an inspiring ecosystem gathering at Coworking Port Louis, where she met with influential figures around the ecosystem, including founders, incubators, hubs, and established entrepreneurs.
AfriLabs is a dynamic, innovation-focused organization that empowers and builds a community around innovation hubs and other stakeholders across the African continent.
Unlocking Potential
During the event, Anna shared insights on tackling startup challenges in Africa, emphasizing Mauritius’ potential as an innovation hub.
Discussions explored the opportunity to set up a Mauritian implementation of Catalytic Africa to serve local and, by extension, African startup early-stage funding needs.
Fostering India-Mauritius-Africa Partnerships
Anna’s visit also explored opportunities for Mauritius to enhance its startup ecosystem, engaging with organizations like MRIC and EDB.
Calls were mooted for Mauritius to host the 2024 Afrilabs annual gathering to raise its profile as a thriving startup ecosystem.
Discussions also touched on India’s potential role in supporting the broader African ecosystem and how Mauritius could serve as a conduit for this support.
Gratitude & Collaboration
La Plage Factory and the entire ecosystem extend their sincere appreciation to Anna for dedicating her valuable time to share her insights. Gratitude is also extended to all the attendees who actively participated in this event.
