Bridging the gap between mother tongue language and examination language to reduce drop out rate.
Bridging the gap between mother tongue language and examination language to reduce drop out rate.
High dropout rate due to an un-accessible language used in the educational system.
We bridge the gap between the mother tongue language and examination language by explaining basic concepts and theories in the mother tongue language first, before re explaining in the examination language for maximum fluency and exam readiness.
According to UNESCO, 40% of students around the world don’t have access to education in their mother tongue language. This is the case in Mauritius, where out of 10 students starting at primary school, only 7 make it to secondary and a mere 2 complete their secondary exams. The problem is not isolated and is recurrent in several former British and French colonies. Alaprann is building just that, a tool (Website, mobile app and tuition center) to bridge the gap between the mother tongue language and examination language, to ensure our students 1st understand the basic theory and concepts, before being able to apply it in the examination language, English. With successful proof of concept in Mauritius, alaprann is willing to extend his tool and methodology to other African countries, starting with Swahili as a 1st language and with the potential to prevent 77m students from dropping out.
