We are launching our new pre-incubation program, supported by the national program for Startups (NSIS) and led by the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC).
Charles M. Schwab told the story of three men who were laying bricks. The first was asked, “What are you doing?” He answered, “Laying some brick.” The second man was asked, “What are you working for?” He answered, “Five dollars a day.” The third man was asked, “What are you doing?” He answered, “I am helping to build a great cathedral (like the one pictured above).”
As you wonder about the essence of this story, you should ask yourself which kind of man you are. At La Plage Factory, we embody the spirit of the last man in our journey of creating a new generation of young African entrepreneurs: a grand cathedral that will harbor upcoming entrepreneurs is currently in the offing, and its unveiling time has finally come.
Our new pre-incubation program is offered in partnership with the ALC Valley, a student-led initiative of entrepreneurs drawn from the African Leadership College, a thriving hub of students with an entrepreneurial spirit at heart. Through this partnership, we want to maximize success for young African entrepreneurs who want to launch their ventures from Mauritius.
Our journey began in April 2023 with a pitching competition organized by the ALC Valley in partnership with la French Tech Mauritius. What follows is a 3-month official NSIS pre-incubation program, customized for the students by La Plage Factory and the ALC Valley to fit their internship period. The program is offered entirely free for all student entrepreneurs.
As La Plage Factory, we are happy for the prospects of this program in supporting African entrepreneurs and bolstering our efforts to promote Tech for Good innovation and entrepreneurship within the continent.
